The Room Over the Garage

They put them in all the new "mansions" and call them "bonus" rooms but I always found it odd to call something found on the original plans and intended to be a room a "bonus". In our case... it actually was a bonus! We had originally intended a lower pitch to the garage but at the last minute found it didn't go well with the other steeper roof lines. Added to that the framer made an error in the floor level which dropped it 16" and before you know it... Bonus! The resulting room was actually some decent living space and not the low ceiling attic space it was originally slated for. But we were long out of money so this project was going to have to wait.

I finally added some in-wall speakers. Screen up showing our quaint little built in TV :-)

Movie Time!

Close up of my DIY mount... essentially hooks that are spring tensioned to eliminate movement. The little couplings between the PJ and the board are alignment couplings used for air cylinders.

From behind the couch

One nice thing about doing it all myself was I incorporated a small alley behind the screen wall and audio rack (accessible from a door in an adjacent room) so getting to the back of the components is a breeze... now I just need to finish that little closet room (run wires through the studs, insulate, drywall, tape...) the work never ends.
